THE FREEDOM EQUATION

What would your life look like if work became optional?
Not someday, not when you’re 65.
Not after you’ve spent another twenty years wondering whether you’re saving enough. But on a timeline you can actually see, investigate, and begin working toward.
Imagine waking up on a Tuesday morning with absolutely nowhere you have to be. You make coffee. You read for an hour because you want to. You take a leisurely walk because you can, and don't stress about getting "to work".
Imagine you can take a trip without calculating how many vacation days you have left.
Spend a month somewhere beautiful.
Leave the job you’ve outgrown.
Start a business because you’re excited about it, not because you need it to pay your bills.
Spend your time doing things that make you feel alive.
Maybe you still work. Maybe you teach, consult, create, volunteer, or take on projects simply because they’re interesting or they sound fun.
Maybe you never want to stop working entirely.
YOU GET TO CHOOSE
Your time belongs to you in a different way. Your income isn’t entirely dependent on your willingness and ability to keep working. And the future you’ve been dreaming about starts to look less like a distant fantasy and more like something you can actually plan for.
What if you could find out whether that future is closer than you think?
What if you could see what it would take to get there?
WELCOME TO THE FREEDOM EQUATION
HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH?
You’ve been making good decisions.
But where are they taking you?
You’ve been saving. Investing. Contributing to your 401(k). Maybe you’ve paid off debt, built a healthy portfolio, or accumulated more money than you ever imagined you would.
You’re doing the things you’re supposed to do.
But how much is enough?
Enough to leave your job? Enough to work part-time? Enough to stop worrying about money? Enough to take a year off, change careers, or finally do something with all those hours you’re spending at work?
You might have a number in mind. Maybe you’ve used a retirement calculator. Maybe someone told you to multiply your annual expenses by 25 and call it a day. But your financial life isn’t a back-of-the-napkin calculation.
You may have a 401(k), an IRA, a brokerage account, or an HSA. You may have different tax treatments, different access ages, different sources of income, and a whole lot of assumptions about what the future might potentially look like.
And if you dream about leaving work before traditional retirement age, there’s an especially important question:
How do you get from the day you stop working to the day you can access your retirement money?
Every details matter. And the choices you make along the way matter more.
Because you aren’t just trying to accumulate a pile of money for the sake of it –––
You're trying to build a life.

Meet your new favorite financial rabbit hole.
THE FREEDOM EQUATION
I built the Freedom Equation because
I wanted to see the whole picture.
Not a generic projection. Not a retirement number someone else handed me. Not a spreadsheet that required me to rebuild everything every time I wanted to test a new idea.
I wanted a model that could show me how the pieces of my financial life work together, what happens when I change the variables, and how different decisions affect the future I’m building.
And because I genuinely love financial modeling (my husband has a nerdy name for my financial deep dives: Smauging — yes, as in the treasure-hoarding dragon Smaug, from LOTR lol), I wanted to make that kind of exploration available to other people, too.
The Freedom Equation is an interactive financial dashboard that lets you investigate your path to financial independence and work-optional life.

It’s where your questions meet your numbers.
And once you can see the whole picture, you can start asking much better questions.

What happens if I change
just one thing?
What if you saved another $500 a month? What if you worked one more year? What if you took a lower-paying job you loved?
What if you did spent more now and retired later? What if you wanted to leave work at 45 instead of 55?
In the model, you can change one assumption at a time and explore what happens to your projected financial future.
How do I fund the years before retirement accounts open up aka
"The Bridge Phase"?
Your brokerage account, Roth IRA, traditional IRA, 401(k), and other accounts don’t all work the same way.
The dashboard brings your accounts into one model so you can investigate how your assets and income might bridge the years between leaving work and accessing retirement accounts.

What if the markets
don't cooperate?
Because markets don’t deliver a nice, smooth return every year, the dashboard includes Monte Carlo simulations that test your plan against many possible sequences of market returns or losses.
You can explore a range of modeled outcomes instead of putting all your faith in one optimistic projection.
What if I want to compare
two completely different futures?
This is where it gets fun.
Compare scenarios side by side. Change your retirement date.
Adjust spending. Explore different savings assumptions.
See how the picture changes without starting from scratch every time you have a new idea.
You can stop wondering whether a decision might make a difference and start
investigating just how much of a difference it could make.
This is what I mean when I say financial freedom is something you can design.
You can’t control every variable.
But you CAN understand more of them. And that changes the decisions available to you.

The best part isn’t the money.
It’s what the money makes possible.
My husband and I have spent years building toward financial independence.
We’ve made deliberate choices about housing. We’ve paid off debt. We’ve saved raises instead of letting every increase in income become an increase in spending.
We’ve invested consistently and built our financial lives around a shared vision of the future.
We didn’t do it by becoming people who never wanted anything.
We didn’t decide that travel, beautiful things, good food, or enjoying our lives were frivolous. We didn’t want to spend our entire working lives depriving ourselves so we could finally enjoy life after we retired.
We wanted to enjoy life AND build the financial foundation that would give us more choices.

That required some honest conversations with ourselves.
What did we actually want? What was worth spending money on? What did we want our future to look like?
Which decisions were bringing us closer to that future, and which ones were simply happening because we’d never stopped to question them?
We had to learn to think about money differently.
Not as a scorecard.
Not as a competition.
Not as an endless pursuit of more.
As a way to create options.
I love the numbers. I love seeing how a seemingly small decision can change the trajectory of a financial plan. But what makes me excited about this work is what happens when someone realizes that the numbers give them choices they didn’t know they had.
Maybe you can retire sooner than you thought.
Maybe you can work less without derailing your future.
Maybe you can afford the trip you’ve been putting off.
Maybe you discover that the lifestyle you want is worth working a little longer for.
Or maybe you realize that the future you’ve been working toward isn’t actually the future you want anymore.
YOU get to decide what freedom looks like for you.
The numbers help you understand what’s possible.
That's why I built this.

This isn’t about living on rice and beans so you can retire at 40.
Let’s talk about the thing that makes early retirement feel so unappealing to so many people.
The sacrifices.
The idea that if you want to retire early, you have to stop traveling, stop buying things you love, stop going out, stop enjoying your life, and spend the next fifteen years obsessing over every dollar.
For some people, an aggressive version of that approach is exactly what they want. Great.
But what if you don’t want to live that way? Because I know I sure as hell don’t.
What if you want financial freedom without turning your current life into an endurance test?
If that’s the case, then you need to understand your options.
Because not every dollar you spend has the same impact on your future. Not every change moves your retirement date by the same amount. And not every sacrifice is worth making.
What if you could discover that working one additional year makes a bigger difference than cutting out the things you love? What if you could compare a few different savings rates and see how much flexibility each one gives you? What if you could figure out whether the extra years of freedom are worth the trade-offs required to get them?
You don’t have to blindly follow someone else’s version of financial independence.
You can investigate your own.
And when you can see the consequences of different choices, you can make those choices deliberately.
The goal isn’t to sacrifice the most.
It’s to understand what matters to you and build accordingly.

Your financial future. Your way.
The Freedom Equation is for you if you’re ready to get curious about what your money can make possible.
-
You’ve accumulated savings and investments but still don’t know when you might be able to stop working.
-
You’re thinking about early retirement, but the thought of spending decades depriving yourself to get there makes you want to slam your laptop shut.
-
You’ve wondered whether you could change careers, take a breather, work less, or build a life that doesn’t depend so heavily on your paycheck.
-
You want to understand the numbers for yourself instead of relying entirely on someone else’s answer.
-
You love a good financial rabbit hole and want to see what happens when you start playing with the variables.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want your future to look like.
You don’t need to have a perfect plan. You don’t need to be ready to hand in your resignation.
You just need to be ready to look.
This tool is best suited to people who have some financial resources and/or ongoing capacity to save and invest, and who want to understand how those resources could support greater freedom.
It isn’t designed to solve an immediate income shortfall or replace individualized financial planning.
Here’s what you get.

Want to explore the numbers together?
Sometimes you want to get your hands on the data and figure things out for yourself.
And sometimes you want someone sitting across from you, looking at the same numbers, helping you make sense of what you’re seeing.
That’s why I’ve also created Dashboard Confessions.
It’s a more personal way to work with the Freedom Equation: you get the dashboard plus two one-hour sessions with me. We can talk through your financial picture, explore what your results mean, and dig into the questions that come up as you investigate your options.
Maybe you want help interpreting your projections.
Maybe you’re trying to figure out whether the trade-offs are worth it.
Maybe you can see what the numbers say, but you’re not sure what to do with that information.
We can talk about it.
The dashboard gives us something concrete to work with.
The conversations give us room to explore what it means for you.
If you prefer to start independently, the dashboard is here for you, too.
You can always explore additional support later.

Your next chapter doesn’t have to be a distant dream.
You don’t have to keep wondering whether you’re saving enough.
You don’t have to blindly follow a retirement rule that doesn’t account for your life.
You don’t have to assume that freedom requires giving up everything you enjoy today.
And you don’t have to decide right now whether early retirement is definitely the answer.
You can start by looking at the numbers.
See where you’re headed. Explore what could change. Discover which choices make a meaningful difference.
Start imagining the possibilities with something more concrete than wishful thinking.
Because the point of all this saving and investing isn’t to spend your entire life watching your accounts grow.
It’s to create a life in which money gives you more choices about how you spend your time.
More money isn't the point. More options is.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a recurring subscription? No. Although the dashboard is accessed through a membership area, your $79 purchase is a one-time payment. You won’t be charged monthly or annually. Your access is intended to be permanent, and future updates are included. Why do I need to create an account? Your account is your access point to the Freedom Equation member area. You’ll use it to access your dashboard, and it will also be home to additional free resources as they become available. Think of it as your own space to return to as you continue exploring your financial future. Do I need to know how to build financial models? No advanced modeling or spreadsheet skills are required. You’ll enter your financial information and assumptions into the dashboard. Having reasonably complete information about your accounts, income, and spending will help you get more useful results. Will it tell me exactly when I can retire? It helps you model a potential work-optional date based on your information and assumptions. It can also show how different choices affect your projections. It cannot guarantee a particular retirement date or predict actual market performance. What if I want help understanding my results? You can explore the dashboard independently, or learn more about Dashboard Confessions, which combines dashboard access with two one-hour sessions with me. Does the dashboard automatically connect to my financial accounts? No. You’ll enter your financial information into the model yourself rather than relying on automatic account syncing. What if my financial situation is complicated? The dashboard supports multiple account types, income sources, and timelines, but it won’t cover every financial situation. Complex tax, legal, business, or investment questions may require additional professional guidance. What if I’m not sure I actually want to retire early? That’s okay. You don’t have to commit to a particular future to explore it. You can investigate what early retirement might require, compare it with other options, and decide whether the trade-offs make sense for you. What happens after I purchase? You’ll create your member account, complete the purchase, and access the dashboard through the Freedom Equation member area. You can return to it through the member area toolbar whenever you’re ready to explore your financial future.
